U12 Girls Team Halfyard

Congratulations to the girls of U12 Team Halfyard! They captured gold in the Surge Basketball "This Girls Got Game" tournament in St. John, New Brunswick! It was an intense final game where they clinched the championship by 1 point! What a thrilling game it was!

We would also like to recognize that they have been keeping busy in other ways this month as well, including trying out the game of wheelchair basketball. This was a unique opportunity for the team to learn some new skills but to also get to experience how specialized equipment can be used to facilitate participation for those with different abilities in a mutually-loved sport. They did just that while developing a strong respect for those who play adaptive sports after being able to experience it and how difficult it is first hand! A big thank you to Sarah Moore and the local ‘Learn To Wheel’ program for making this opportunity possible for the Storm!
